The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is an 18- month, 30-hour degree program. It is designed to provide elementary and secondary teachers with an interdisciplinary, field-based study of teaching and the learning process. The focus is on the practical application of learning-teaching skills in the classroom where theory and practice converge. The student, in cooperation with a faculty advisor, designs an individualized plan for an action research study
SCHEDULE
Classes are scheduled so that students will be able to teach full time while obtaining the Master of Arts in Teaching degree. The courses are offered in eight-week timeframes one night a week.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All forms must be on file in the Admissions Office prior to the start of the program. In addition to the requirements stated under the Graduate Admissions Policy, the requirements for admission to MAT are as follows:
- Baccalaureate degree in elementary or secondary education with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher from an accredited institution.
- Two letters of recommendation: one from another educator and one from a school administrator.
- Completion of program interview process and written approval of admission by the program director after review of admission requirements.
- Minimum of one year teaching experience.
- A teaching license.
