The Master of Education in Teaching and Learning degree at Friends University focuses on practical application of classroom learning-teaching skills, student advocacy and educational leadership in an increasingly complex global society. To complete a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning degree, the candidate will complete 30 hours of course work to include a professional course of 18 required hours.
12 hours of approved workshop credits will complete the required hours. Only Friends University Graduate workshops may apply toward required elective hours. One required workshop hour entitled MAT Portfolio will be required during the final term of the student’s program.
Students must complete all graduate degree requirements withing five (5) years of their first course registration.

Most courses are offered in eight-week time frames, with three formats - traditional classroom, blended and online.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All forms must be on file in the Admissions Office prior to the start of the program. In addition to the requirements stated under the Graduate Admissions Policy, the requirements for admission to Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning are as follows:
- Baccalaureate or graduate degree in education from a regionally accredited institution with courses completed to satisfy state requirements for licensure with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- Two letters of recommendation: one from another educator and one from a school administrator.
- Completion of program interview process and written approval of admission by the program director after review of admission requirements.
- Minimum of one year teaching experience.
- A teaching license.
