Marketing is like solving a puzzle or winning a game of strategy where marketers understand the intersection between the consumer’s needs and wants and delivering value through their organization’s offerings.
A minor in marketing is a great compliment to any major regardless of the industry or career aspirations. Understanding marketing can apply as much to a business positioning its products and services to meet its target market’s needs as it applies to young college graduates branding themselves in their resumes or performing artists and athletes positioning themselves and their talents. Marketing matters.
Marketing minor students will have a deep understanding of marketing principles and be able to choose the marketing curriculum based on their personal interest and needs by choosing 15 credit hours of marketing 300+ level courses so they can choose a deep dive in social and digital media or a general approach to broad marketing concepts such as consumer behavior or marketing analytics.
Upon successful completion of the marketing minor, students will be able to:
- Understand and apply marketing terminology and concepts in the context of decision-making and management for business and non-profit organizations.
- Respect and apricate the opinions and perspectives of others, value inclusion, and diversity in the workplace, and develop interpersonal skills to work effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates in organized group settings.
- Develop and apply appropriate strategies and practices to establish and maintain ethical marketing behaviors.
