The Dance Minor seeks to achieve two goals:
1) To complement existing fine arts disciplines and degrees by providing training and opportunity for students seeking careers in the Fine Arts. (Movement therapy, music theatre, arts administration, dance photography, etc.)
2) Develop a broader culture of dance at Friends University to serve a student’s personal aesthetic and athletic enjoyment and expression.
An interview/proficiency audition is required before entrance into the Dance minor. This allows for the correct placement of each student based on his or her skill and expertise.
Students may transfer up to a maximum of 8 credit hours in dance after review and approval by the Dance faculty. A minimum grade of C or better is required for all dance courses to apply to the minor.
Review Policy - after eight dance minor studio classes/courses have been completed, there will be a review of the student’s improvement in skill and commitment to the minor.
