In addition to general education components, professional education course components are required.

Students preparing for PreK-12 combination elementary and secondary teaching will enroll in EDUC 440B The Elementary School Internship and 450B The Secondary School Internship. Art, Music, and Spanish are the PreK-12 combination elementary and secondary degrees offered at Friends University. For the required course listings, please refer to the appropriate subject areas.

Prospective secondary teachers should secure a “teaching major” in the subject field of concentration. These “teaching majors” are not necessarily the same as usual major field concentrations. Therefore, it is imperative for the student to follow the particular patterns outlined on Program Outline Sheets available from the Registrar’s Office or the Chair of the Division of Education. Included is a listing of the secondary education degrees offered at Friends University and their teaching major field requirements. Please see the Education Department for complete program outlines.
