This program is currently dormant until Fall 2011.
The graduate level district leadership program is designed to prepare professional educators for district level administrative positions.
The district leader will:
- facilitate the development and implementation of a district mission that focuses on teaching and learning;
- advocate, nurture and sustain a positive learning climate and culture for effective instructional programs;
- develop and maintain effective management practices and resources that create a safe, efficient and effective learning environment;
- collaborate with families and diverse community members in an effort to mobilize resources;
- act with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner; and
- understand, respond to and influence the larger political, social, economic and cultural community.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of a graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Verification of three years of experience in a state-accredited school while holding a professional teaching license, a professional school specialist license, a professional clinical license, or a gull vocational-technical certificate.
- A writing sample with a writing score in the “proficient” range on the program writing rubric.
- A graduate GPA >= 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
- Three supportive letters of recommendation from educational colleagues who can speak to the candidate’s leadership potential.
- A score in the “recommended” range on the Leadership Potential Interview (LPI).
