In addition to general education components, professional education course components are required.
Prospective secondary teachers should secure a “teaching major” in the subject field of concentration. These “teaching majors” are not necessarily the same as usual major field concentrations. Therefore, it is imperative for the student to follow the particular patterns outlined on Program Outline Sheets available from the Registrar’s Office or the Chair of the Division of Education. Included is a listing of the secondary education degrees offered at Friends University and their teaching major field requirements. Please see the Education Department for complete program outlines.

This accreditation includes the undergraduate and graduate levels of professional education programs offered at the institution. In addition, the education programs at Friends University are also approved by the Kansas State Department of Education.
