EDUC 5656 - Improve Student Achievement with Grit

This book focused workshop is designed to help teachers succeed as individuals as well as impact student achievement by focusing on a blend of passion and persistence called GRIT. Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth explains that GRIT is the quality in people that makes them ultimately successful despite challenges and obstacles. People with GRIT do not give up, they keep going, driven by passion and perseverance. Teachers will implement Duckworth’s tools and methods to explore GRIT within themselves and work to foster GRIT in their students. Students face increasing challenges today and the development of GRIT in our students will lead to greater success inside and outside of the classroom. Teachers will improve educator effectiveness through the development of activities and plans to help students grow as learners, persevere through challenges, and be actively engaged in their own learning.
