Sociology is the scientific study of a group of people with a shared culture and social structure. Sociology majors learn how and why people behave the way they do, as well as the causes of problems within social systems. This scientific and non-judgmental approach prepares students to work productively with diverse populations in society.
Employment
Students majoring in Sociology are prepared to continuing education in graduate school or for direct employment. Career opportunities including: federal, state, and local government, as well as a wide range or national and local nonprofit organizations. Sociology students are also sought out to work in a range of business settings particularly in positions that require a non-judgmental interaction with others.
