The General Studies degree program is designed for adult learners planning to complete a baccalaureate degree that does not have a major area of study defined. The program is intended to establish foundational skills in critical thinking and communication. It is also intended to allow a student who has completed most of the requirements of a major but has not yet completed the major of an approved program to complete a baccalaureate degree in a timely manner.
The Bachelor of General Studies degree is intended to be a first baccalaureate degree.
- Any courses ordinarily accepted for credit by Friends University may be chosen as hours to apply toward the 124 credit hours required for graduation.
- In order to declare a General Studies major, students must have previously earned a minimum of 60 credit hours from a regionally accredited institution.
- Students pursuing a General Studies degree may not have an additional major.
- Students must enter with a minimum 2.0 GPA and have a 2.0 GPA to declare this major.

42 credit hours of upper-division (300 and 400-level) courses distributed through Major, Supporting, General Education, and Free Elective categories.
Choose two 400-level courses:
6 credit hours of 400-level or higher coursework.
Total Major Requirements: 48 credit hours
Total Degree Requirements: 124 credit hours
