Friends University became the sister university of La Salle University of Cancun, Mexico, Friday, March 26, 1993. In the signed agreement, both institutions promised to promote and establish academic and scientific exchanges for students and faculty. Since then, the institutions have enjoyed successful academic exchanges of students from both campuses. Students may receive 6 credit hours from Friends University on completion of the requirements of two courses offered on the La Salle University campus. Specifically, they are HIST 429 Mayan History (3 credit hours) and SPAN 480 Advanced Spanish Conversation (3 credit hours). The courses are taught by La Salle University faculty, and the credit is granted by Friends University.
