Information Security and Forensics - MISF

The Master of Information Security and Forensics degree is a professional program focused on the strategic roles of information systems within organizations.  With concentration on information systems security and computer forensics the program:

  • Supports both traditional and emerging career opportunities in information systems.  Information systems security is core to virtually all sizes and types of organizations and industries, thus a program degree expands job opportunities for graduates.
  • Accomodates rapid changes in the field of information systems through a continuous curriculum review process that maintains topical alignment with professional societies and industry needs in the information systems security and forensics field.

Schedule

Most courses are offered in eight-week time frames, with both on-ground and online formats.  Students earn three hours of credit for each course completed.

Total Degree Requirements: 36 credit hours


Information Security and Forensics Certificate


Upon completion of three (3) specific courses for nine credit hours, undergraduate, degree-seeking students will be awarded a certificate.  Certificate must be completed within 5 years of start date of certificate coursework and are subject to any/all other academic policy requirements in effect at the time of student enrollment.

MIS 640  Information Security and Policy Development

MIS 535 Network Security
MIS 585 Computer Forensics I
MIS 595 Computer Forensics II
MIS 655 Cyber Security
MIS 670 Seminar in Information Security and Forensics

Additional Notes:

1)  Students must complete MIS 585 Computer Forensics I with an earned grade of C or better before taking MIS 595 Computer Forensics II.

2)  Students must complete MIS 640 Information Security and Policy Development with an earned grade of C or better before taking MIS 655 Cyber Security.

3)  Students must earn a grade of B or better for each of the three courses to be awarded a certificate.

4)  Students must complete CSIS 125 or equivalent with a earned grade of C or better before enrolling in courses in the Information Security and Forensics certificate.
