The Master of Science in Operations Management is a 36-credit hour program designed to prepare students for leadership positions in both service and manufacturing operations. The program emphasizes the strategic and tactical management of a company’s supply chain, quality, project planning and implementation, and other processes in providing goods and services. Students will have the skills to demonstrate the ability to effectively participate and manage teams and projects to improve operations, quality, and productivity of organizations. In addition, students will have demonstrated the appropriate skills necessary to complete applied research projects by utilizing practical applications in company operations.
SCHEDULE
Most courses are 3 credit hours and are offered in eight-week time frames, one night a week.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the requirements stated under the Graduate Admissions Policy, the requirements for admission to MSOM are as follows:
- Letter of recommendation from employer or professional reference.
- Completion of program interview process and written approval of admission by the program director after review of the admission requirements.

Business, Technology, and Leadership Division Foundations Courses
Students entering a degree program in the Graduate School BTL Division with a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting from an ACBSP, AACSB, or IACBE candidate or accredited institution will be enrolled in the courses associated with the graduate degree they seek. No BTL Foundations courses are required.
Students entering a degree program in the Graduate School BTL Division with a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting from an institution without secondary business accreditation or candidacy who do not have a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in the field of study they enter at Friends will be required to take courses in BTL Foundations in order to proceed with studies in their chosen graduate business program.
Students entering a degree program in the Graduate School BTL Division without a bachelor’s degree in business who do not have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the field of study they enter at Friends will be required to take courses in BTL Foundations in order to proceed with studies in their chosen graduate business program.
Clarification on when students required to take BSAD 500 and/or BSAD 501 Foundation courses must have completed the courses. |
All BTL division students required to take the foundation courses must do so within the first 12 hours of their program requirements. |
Core Major Requirements: 24 credit hours
Choose One or Two Program Elective courses = 3 - 6 credit hours
Choose 2 or 3 General Elective Courses: 6-9 credit hours

Total Major Requirements: 36-42 hours
Green Belt Certification in Six Sigma
This certificate is only awarded to students in the Masters of Science in Operations Management program upon successful completion of the OPMT 550 Managing Operations course.
