EDUC 5671 - Creating a Curious Classroom

2 Credit Hours

We all know toddlers tend to be very curious about the environment around them. What happens to a child’s curiosity once they enter school and how can we, as educators, foster this process? This workshop will provide 10 structures to engage students through student-driven inquiry. Research-based strategies suggested in The Curious Classroom, by Harvey “Smokey” Daniels will offer teaching practices that promote curiosity, connect that curiosity to curriculum, and provide examples for assessment and grading. This workshop is designed for K-8 teachers who are new to inquiry in the classroom, and passionate about curiosity to extend a child’s learning journey! This course is an online class.

Participants will use Moodle to complete their work. Additional computer requirements may be found at: www .friends .edu/technology/ . Enrollment closes prior to the start date to allow time to establish Moodle accounts. If you need assistance with Moodle prior to the class start date, please call the Help Desk at 316-295-5767 or email at helpdesk@friends.edu.
