REL 221 - Varieties of Religious Experience Credit Hours: 3 This course will examine the nature of religious experience, religious faith, religious beliefs and religious expression. Students will be exposed to the religious experiences of people across the centuries; will look at the values and commitments, the mind, and the will of human beings that make up what we call faith; will become aware of the beliefs of major world religions and Christian denominations, and the relationship between beliefs and experience; and finally, will examine the ways in which religion is expressed, i.e., rite, ritual, worship services, cultic behavior, sacraments, practices of piety, etc. Meets General Education Goal 8a: World Religion and Christianity.
