The Human Resource Management Degree is designed for students who desire a degree that provides a wide range of business skills and opportunities for challenging work.

The degree prepares students to be strategic and tactical within their organizations and to achieve success as HR management professionals.

Designed by practicing Human Resource professionals, courses are based on the educational framework for professionals provided by the Human Resource Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management’s Curriculum Guidebook.

Woven throughout the coursework specific to Human Resource Management are topics relevant to all business professionals.  To stay ahead of the rapidly changing HR environment, and to maximize opportunities to experience the growing importance of HR in organizational strategy, this is the degree of choice for HR professionals.  Students in this accelerated program study one topic at a time enabling full concentration and maximum exposure to the topic.

Total Major Requirements: 60 credit hours


General Education Requirements for the College of Adult and Professional Studies:


  • Composition (w/ grade of “C” or better) - 3 hours
  • Researched Composition (w/ grade of “C” or better) - 3 hours
  • Math * - 3 hours
  • Natural Science w/ lab - 4 hours
  • Speech - 3 hours
  • Religion/Philosophy - 3 hours
  • Social/Behavioral Sciences - 6 hours
  • Computer Information Systems - 3 hours
  • Liberal Arts/Humanities - 9 hours
    • Select a minimum of 9 hours within at least two categories:
      • History
      • Literature
      • Fine Arts (Art, Music, or Drama - survey courses)
      • Foreign Language/World Culture
  • CAPS 200 Analysis, Principles and Skills of Adult Learning
  • IDST 101 Introduction to Communities of Practice

  • Majors within the Bachelor of Arts degree requiring The Nature of Mathematics or Intermediate Algebra or a higher level math course must earn a grade of C or better.
  • Majors within the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Business Administration requiring College Algebra must earn a grade of C or better.
